While Rwanda, Rwandans and friends of Rwanda are still in the 100 days of commemorating the Innocents killed in the 1994 in the Genocide against the Tutsi, Today, on April 20, 2024, at the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center at Gisozi, there was an event to publish a book written by Josiane UMULINGA. Her book is called “SURVIVED TO FORGIVE”.
The history of what happened in Rwanda during the Genocide against the Tutsi is becoming known through art and the writing of books that help Rwandans who were not there and those who were so young at that time. This book ‘SURVIVED TO FORGIVE’ is a big support for youth who were not there in the Genocide against the Tutsi, for remembering and know history so that there will be other force to their generation to generation and fight against any action that may cause it to happen again.
Josiane is now a mother of three children who lives in Nairobi, Kenya. She says that she started writing this book during the pandemic ‘Corona virus’ and to write it was give so that we can have history to show to others who do not know that and she said that she owed it to her father who asked her to write it later to survive the Genocide Against the Tutsi in 1994.
